Everyone at some time or another has needed a little help. The "Family Wishes" program began in 2005. The program was implemented to supplement Christmas presents for local families. In 2008; 181 individuals with donations of $6,337 was donated and in 2007; 182 individual were helped with donations exceeding $5,000.00.
Each year the township started by a fundraiser held at the local festival in Riverton in September. Raffles and a 50/50 are held. The township then seeks donations for local businesses and individuals.
Applications are taken for families in need. There are no qualifications, just a need for assistance at the holidays.
Families receive one outfit and a toy per child and one present for the adults. Shopping is done by volunteers. After being sorted, families pick up their package on a designated day right before Christmas. Additional items are purchased from wrapping paper to stocking stuffers.
The township is proud to be able to serve the community with this program and it has proven to be quite successful. Secret Santa's and donations are available on the Calendar of Events and the newspaper each year. Referrals are accepted.
